The short version: Salad Party is a small Seattle restaurant. We collect minimal personal data — primarily to make our website work and to accept orders. We don't sell your data. Ever. If you have questions, email us at matt@grillbird.com.

1. Who We Are

Salad Party ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website at saladparty.com and the physical restaurant located at 6820 Greenwood Ave N, Seattle, WA 98103.

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit our website, place an order, or contact us — and what we do with it. It applies to residents of all jurisdictions, including California (CCPA), Washington State, Canada (PIPEDA/AODA), and the European Economic Area (GDPR/EAA).

2. Data We Collect

We collect data in three ways:

Data Type Examples Source
Data you give us Name, email address, message content when you contact us Contact form, email, social media messages
Order data Name, delivery address, payment info, order history Toast (online ordering), Uber Eats — handled by those platforms directly
Automatically collected IP address, browser type, pages visited, time on site, referring URL Squarespace Analytics, cookies

We do not collect: payment card numbers (handled entirely by Toast and Uber Eats), government IDs, health data, or sensitive personal information.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use the data we collect only for the following purposes:

  • To respond to your messages — if you contact us, we use your name and email to reply.
  • To operate and improve the website — analytics data helps us understand which pages are useful and fix problems.
  • To facilitate online orders — your ordering data is processed by Toast or Uber Eats, not stored by us independently.
  • To comply with the law — we may retain certain records as required by applicable regulations.

We do not: sell your personal information, share it with data brokers, use it for targeted advertising, or build profiles about you.

Legal basis (for GDPR/EAA purposes): We process data under the following lawful bases: (a) Legitimate interests — for website analytics and security; (b) Contract performance — to process orders you place; (c) Consent — for non-essential cookies where consent is collected; (d) Legal obligation — where law requires us to retain records.

4. Third-Party Services

Our website uses the following third-party platforms. Each has its own privacy policy governing how they handle your data:

Service Purpose Privacy Policy

When you click a link to any of these external services, their privacy practices govern. We recommend reading their policies before providing personal data to those platforms.

5. Cookies & Tracking

Our website uses cookies — small text files stored in your browser — to make the site function and to collect analytics. Here's what we use:

  • Essential cookies — Required for the site to work (e.g., your cart session). These cannot be disabled without breaking the site.
  • Analytics cookies — Squarespace Analytics collects anonymized data about page visits to help us improve the site. No personally identifying data is included in these reports.

How to control cookies: You can block or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings. Note that disabling essential cookies may affect site functionality. To opt out of Squarespace analytics, you can use a browser extension such as uBlock Origin or enable your browser's "Do Not Track" setting (Squarespace respects this signal).

We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking, or third-party marketing pixels.

6. How Long We Keep Data

  • Contact form messages: Retained for up to 2 years, or until you ask us to delete them.
  • Website analytics: Aggregated, anonymized — retained per Squarespace's policy (typically 26 months).
  • Order data: Held by Toast or Uber Eats per their respective retention policies.
  • Legal records: Retained as required by applicable law (typically 7 years for tax/financial records).
